A 4-year-old boy was allegedly chased down by a french bulldog and bitten on the evening of 3 April, at Sembawang.
The owner of the dog then went to the boy’s home to apologize to the family and claimed that his dog enjoys “playing with children”, which enraged the boy’s father, Mr Amos Dong.
Speaking to AsiaOne, Mr Dong asked “shouldn’t he leash his dog?” adding that “not all children know how to play with them”.
Dong told AsiaOne that he was bringing his son for a walk downstairs and when he was closing his home’s door, the bulldog ran over to his son from about 10 meters away.
The dog then allegedly bit his son’s arms, and he then tried to shout to scare it off, adding that he gave the dog a kick and it then released its grip.
However, the dog allegedly continued to chase the boy around the corridor and ultimately bit him again a second time, allegedly.
Dong revealed that his son suffered five puncture wounds from the bite on his arms and legs as well as scratches on his abdomen.
The father then brought his son to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital after a visit to a GP clinic didn’t give him “peace of mind”, and the boy was given 4 days MC.
Mr Dong shared how his son doesn’t want to step out of the house after the incident, having suffered shock and trauma.
According to hdb.gov.sg, French bulldogs are not listed as HDB approved, and flat owners who are in breach of the rules face a fine of up to $4,000.
