A 42-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of being involved in a number of thefts.
Between July 2021 and March 2022, the Police received several reports from victims claiming that their cash cards and other valuables such as bags and money had been taken from vehicles parked in multi-story carparks in Hougang, Tampines, Ang Mo Kio, Bedok Reservoir, Sengkang, and Yishun.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the man and subsequently arrested him. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in other similar cases.
The man will be charged in court on 9 April 2022 with an offence of theft.

The offence of theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 carries a jail term of up to 3 years, or a fine, or both.

- Install an anti-theft alarm system;
- Do not leave cash and valuables such as cashcards, laptops, handphones, briefcases or wallets in your vehicle;
- Lock all vehicle doors and wind up all windows when your vehicle is parked, even if it is for a short while; and
- Park your vehicle in well-lit areas.
