According to the Police media release, A 44-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of a motor vehicle.
The incident happened on 1st March 2022 at around 4.30 AM. The Police received a report stating that a motorcycle was stolen from a multi-story carpark along Chin Swee Road.
Through investigations and reviewing Police CCTV, the man was arrested two days later (March 3) and the stolen motorcycle has been recovered.
The man was charged in court earlier today for theft of a motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code 1871. The offence of theft of a motor vehicle carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine.
Prevention:
Here is what the Police advise all motorcycle owners:
- Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
- Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;
- Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;
- Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard;
- Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended; and
- Do not leave spare keys inside the motorcycle storage box.
