A video emerged online showing a 45-year-old man who appears to be a Foodpanda rider being beaten up by a reportedly 13-year-old boy at Bukit Batok.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the incident took place on 23 April at about 6.24 pm in the evening, outside the Le Quest Shopping Mall at Bukit Batok.
The video was filmed by a netizen who was inside a shop that was nearby at the time, and it showed the 13-year-old boy wearing a black jacket and black pants, raining blows at the older man dressed in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt.
The boy was seen at the start of the video shouting at the older man “LAI!” before charging at the food delivery rider, who managed to fend off the first few blows from the boy as he retreated to his bicycle.
However, he took a few hits to his head, before the boy then kicked him thrice when he had his back facing the boy, and the man was then sent sprawling over his bicycle with the boy’s last kick.
The man then turned around to stare at the boy, who then walked away and went towards the shopping mall.
A woman could be heard in the video shouting at the boy “OI! I CALL POLICE AH!” before the video cuts off and ended.
According to the netizen, the fight had allegedly sparked off when the man asked the boy what he was looking at, saying “stare what”.
Passers-by also tried to stop the fight and break the two apart, and the police were also alerted to the fiasco – two ambulances and 4 police officers later arrived at the scene.
The Singapore Police Force confirmed that both parties were sent to the hospital and that they have arrested both the boy and the food delivery rider for affray.
At the time of writing, police investigations into the fight are underway.
