The police had received complaints of a large group of people at Pu Tian Building (Lorong 33 Geylang) at some time during November 2018. There was also a Facebook post showing that there was an event going on at that point in time.

Before the start of that event, the former religious teacher tried to apply for a permit to proceed with the event but was later rejected by an officer from Bedok Police Division and have been warned that it is a punishable offense to carry out the event without a permit.

A fine of up to $5,000 will be charged for organizing a public assembly without a valid permit.
