51 Y.O Malacca Man Flashed His “Bird” Beaten to Death by Public, 7 Arrested

A 51-year-old man has died after allegedly being assaulted by members of the public in a shocking vigilante-style act of mob justice. The man, who was reportedly caught flashing his “genitals “below” in a supermarket car park in Jasin, Melaka, succumbed to his injuries shortly after being detained and beaten by a group of individuals.

The incident unfolded at approximately 7:26pm on Sunday (27 July), when the man was said to have exposed himself in full view of the public at a commercial parking area. The disturbance escalated rapidly as bystanders confronted him, prompting the man to flee on foot.

Local police received a report on the case around 9pm, and an official statement was issued by Melaka police chief, Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar, confirming the details of the event and subsequent death of the suspect.

Mob Pursuit Ended in Fatal Beating

According to police findings, the suspect was initially caught and physically assaulted by two men. However, he managed to escape, dashing into a nearby bushy area and reportedly leaping into a river in an attempt to flee. Unfortunately, the man’s bid for escape failed as he was apprehended once more—this time by a larger group who had responded to cries for help.

The second encounter proved fatal. The man was beaten again, sustaining severe injuries. When emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene—ironically located in front of a kindergarten—they pronounced him dead on the spot.

His body was subsequently transferred to the Jasin Hospital Forensics Unit for a post-mortem examination. Authorities also revealed that the deceased had two prior convictions for gross indecency, both in 2023 and 2024, painting a troubling picture of habitual sexual misconduct.

Seven Individuals, Including a Teen, Arrested for Murder

The police have since detained seven individuals believed to have been directly involved in the fatal assault. Among them was a Pakistani national, and the ages of those arrested range from 15 to 50 years old.

All suspects have been remanded for seven days to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which pertains to murder—a capital offence in Malaysia. If found guilty, those charged could face the mandatory death penalty.

Datuk Dzulkhairi also urged the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. “We understand the anger and concern over acts of public indecency, but justice must be carried out through legal means,” he stated.

Police Seek Witnesses As Questions Mount Over Vigilantism

The authorities are currently seeking additional eyewitnesses to shed light on the chain of events leading to the man’s death. Anyone with relevant information has been urged to contact ASP Mohamad Ehsan Abu Bakar at 016-520 9501.

While the community remains divided—some praising the public for stopping a repeat offender, others condemning the unlawful mob response—this case has sparked intense debate over the limits of citizen action, the consequences of vigilantism, and the role of law enforcement in public safety.

As investigations continue, this tragic episode serves as a chilling reminder that justice cannot come at the expense of due process—and that the cost of public outrage, when left unchecked, can result in irreversible consequences.
