Singapore – A 52-year-old woman in Singapore has claimed that a relationship with a masseur she met at a traditional health salon ended abruptly after she discovered she was pregnant.
The woman, identified as Miss Wu, said she first met the 38-year-old man, whom she knew as “Ah Guang”, at a health salon in Chinatown late last year. She had initially visited the establishment for massage treatments to manage persistent lower back discomfort.
According to her account, their interactions gradually extended beyond the salon. The pair allegedly began meeting regularly outside working hours, including having late-night meals together at a nearby coffee shop.
Miss Wu claimed their relationship became increasingly serious over the following months. She said the man had been attentive towards her and had reassured her that their age difference was not an issue.
She further alleged that he had spoken about settling down with her in Singapore, leading her to believe that they were building a long-term relationship.
Woman says pregnancy came as a shock
The situation allegedly changed after Miss Wu began experiencing nausea and unusual fatigue last month.
Initially believing that the symptoms could be related to menopause, she said she visited a general practitioner for a medical assessment. She was subsequently surprised to learn from medical testing that she was around six weeks pregnant.
Miss Wu said she later met Ah Guang over a meal and told him about the pregnancy. According to her account, his reaction was one of shock, and he became noticeably withdrawn after hearing the news.
She claimed that he left Singapore shortly afterwards.
Two days after informing him of the pregnancy, Miss Wu said she went to the Chinatown salon where he had worked. She was allegedly told by colleagues that he had resigned suddenly, packed his belongings and returned to Fujian province in China.
Masseur allegedly cuts contact
Miss Wu said subsequent attempts to contact the man were unsuccessful. She claimed that his telephone numbers were no longer reachable and that she had also been blocked on social media platforms.
The woman said she is now facing the pregnancy without the support she had expected from her partner. She described the situation as emotionally difficult and said concerns about finances and her future had added to the stress.
She is reportedly seeking advice from medical professionals and social support services while considering her options.
The allegations also raise potential questions over paternity and financial responsibility. Based on the circumstances described, there was reportedly no immediate indication of a criminal offence. However, civil remedies and maintenance claims may potentially be considered if paternity is legally established.
For now, Miss Wu’s account remains an allegation, and the masseur’s side of the story could not be independently established from the information provided.
The case highlights the potential legal and financial complications that can arise when an unexpected pregnancy occurs in a relationship where the parties subsequently lose contact. Any claims concerning paternity or maintenance would ultimately depend on the relevant evidence and applicable Singapore laws.
