The Police received a report on 5 February 2022 at about 3.20 pm, the report stated that a man was injured after making claims that two unknown men had entered his unit and robbed him of $600 at knifepoint. He also claimed that the duo had injured him with the knife during the incident before they fled from the unit on foot.

Penalties

The offence of giving any information which a person knows to be false to a public servant carries an imprisonment term which may extend to two years, a fine, or both.

The Police would like to remind members of the public that police resources can be put to better use to deal with real crimes and emergencies than investigating into false reports or false information. Those who lodge false police reports or provide false information will face serious consequences under the law.
