6 MEN & 2 WOMEN ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL RACING ALONG KPE

According to police, 8 drivers between the ages of 20 and 42 were arrested for their involvement in an illegal race along KPE.

The police were alerted on May 16 at 1:32am. A video of the incident was posted on the Facebook page SG Road Vigilante and was widely shared on various online channels.

After thorough investigations and with the aid of CCTV footages, the identities of the people involved were established and six men and two women were subsequently arrested.

The individuals are also being investigated for breaching safe distancing measures under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020.

Under Section 116(7) of the Road Traffic Act, motorists found to be promoting or taking part in any competition or trial of speed may be sentenced for up to six months imprisonment and a fine of between S$1,000 and S$2,000.

Under Section 64(1) of the Road Traffic Act, anyone found guilty of dangerous driving can face imprisonment of up to 12 months, a fine of up to S$5,000, or both.

Investigations are ongoing.
