An altercation broke out between two men at Block 154 Bukit Batok Street 11 on 21 January, at a coffeeshop.
A 62-year-old man was conveyed to the hospital following the fracas, while a 26-year-old man is currently assisting the police with the investigations for voluntarily causing hurt.
Police officers and SCDF paramedics could be seen at the scene attending to the injured man.
According to a witness at the scene, the two men were apparently fighting over a chair at the coffeeshop, with the younger man then hitting the older man.
Potential penalties
According to Chapter 224 of the Penal Code, anyone who disturbs public peace by fighting in public is guilty of committing an affray.
Upon conviction, offenders could face a jail term of up to one year and/or a fine of up to $5,000.
According to Chapter 321 of the Penal Code, anyone who performs an act that causes hurt to a person is guilty of Voluntarily Causing Hurt.
Upon conviction, offenders could face a jail term of up to 3 years and/or a fine of up to $5,000.
