A 65-year-old Singaporean man became the 35th workplace fatality this year, following a fatal accident that happened on 25 August.
The fatal accident took place at 10 Kranji Road, the address of the Kranji Water Reclamation Plant.
Run over by forklift
The 65-year-old worker, who was working as a driver, was transporting a forklift via a low-bed lorry at the time of the incident.
He was trying to secure the forklift onto the lorry at about 11.15am, when the forklift “suddenly moved forward”, according to the Ministry of Manpower.
He was run over by the forklift, and was conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital before he succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
Employed by Synergy-Biz
The deceased was a worker of Synergy-Biz, which was engaged by Sanli Engineering and Construction, a contractor of the Public Utilities Board (PUB).
PUB said that they are in touch with Synergy-Biz to provide support to the deceased worker’s family, and they will also be assisting MOM with the investigations into the fatal accident.
MOM is investigating the incident, along with another fatal accident that took place at Woodlands on 26 August, where a worker was killed after a concrete load toppled onto him.
They added that they will be introducing further measures to strengthen workplace safety.
