The Singapore Police Force has apprehended a 65-year-old man in connection with a robbery with hurt incident that occurred on May 19, 2025. The arrest took place just hours after the crime was reported, showcasing the swift response and investigative capabilities of the police.
At approximately 3:45 PM on that day, authorities were alerted to a robbery involving an 81-year-old victim along Redhill Close. Preliminary investigations indicated that the elderly man was allegedly assaulted by an unknown assailant, who then robbed him of $200 in cash. The victim sustained injuries during the incident and was subsequently transported to the hospital while conscious.
Following the robbery, the suspect fled the scene, prompting a rapid investigation by officers from the Clementi Police Division. Utilizing images captured by police cameras and CCTV footage from the area, investigators were able to identify the suspect. Remarkably, within four hours of the initial report, the police located and arrested the man. During the arrest, they recovered $62 in cash, which is believed to be part of the stolen amount.
The suspect is set to face charges in court on May 21, 2025, under Section 394 of the Penal Code 1871 for robbery with hurt. This serious offence carries significant penalties, including a mandatory imprisonment term of no less than five years and up to 20 years, along with a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane.
