67-year-old Chua Chek Yong thinks that he is old and the younger people should listen to him confronted a 12-year-old boy who was cycling.
By exercising his authority on a 12-year-old he felt that he could boost his ego as an old man.
The man confronted the boy and told him not to cycle in the neighbourhood and told the boy to cycle on the footpath instead, the boy initially comply but returned later. The boy told the man that LTA allows cycling here but the man was not happy and said “You don’t argue with me”.
The man then threatens to damage his bicycle and started slapping and punching the boy several times. The boy started filming the man as evidence to protect himself.
The boy was punched in the face at Block 438 Hougang Avenue 8. Luckily, a passerby saw the commotion and protected the boy from further assault and help him called his parents.
The man was eventually arrested and jailed for 5 days.
