A netizen going by the alias of Sammy Lee on Facebook recently shared that he had went to a 7-Eleven store at Resorts World Sentosa to buy some food and was appalled by the state of cleanliness of a microwave oven in the store.
Interior full of brown stains
In the picture he posted, the interior of the microwave oven was full of stains and it was in a very unhygienic condition.
He said that when he informed the staff working at the particular outlet about it, the staff simply asked him to use the other microwave oven and did not bother to clean it even though he was not busy at the moment.
Here is what he shared on Facebook
“This is the state of a microwave oven inside a 7-Eleven store at RWS yesterday afternoon when I visited it, not the one directly below the Sentosa Express Resorts World Station, its the one which is a small distance away which is much bigger one.
I told the staff about it, and he just told me use the other microwave oven on top. The other microwave oven is also dirty but not as horrible as this one. He made no effort in wanting to clean it even when there is nobody queuing to make payment.
I guess he is not paid enough to have some ownership of the hygiene level in the outlet.
RWS, NEA, STB should spot check these kind of stores for the good image of Sentosa.”

Here are what netizens think
- $6 per hour mentality
- Is normal. How much you are paid that is how much you work?
- The white base part is to put them to make hot, the rest ignore. Food is edible and pipping hot to savour thereafter.
- extra flavourings
- Free soup
