
Six males and one woman, ages 39 to 73, are being investigated by the police for their alleged involvement in unlawful horse betting activities.
In an operation against such activities, Officers from Woodlands Police Division were deployed to:
- Woodlands Street 11
- Woodlands Drive 14
- Yishun Avenue 5
The operation arrested two men, ages 57 and 73 for their alleged role as bookies, while three additional men, ages 39 to 59, are being investigated for allegedly betting with bookmakers.
A 52-year-old woman is investigated as well for allegedly accepting bets via remotely from a 73-year-old male who is also being investigated for suspected unlicensed gambling.
Penalties
Anyone found guilty of betting with a bookmaker can be fined up to $5,000 and/or jailed 6 months.
Anyone found guilty of being a bookmaker can be fined between $20,000 to $200,000 and jailed up to 5 years.
