A 79-year-old elderly man was set on fire in a disturbing attack, while walking alone at a shopping mall in Honolulu, Hawaii.
He suffered first and second-degree burns on his body following the assault.
The sickening incident happened at the Chinatown Cultural Plaza in Honolulu, Hawaii, on the morning of 12 April at about 8am, according to KITV.
CCTV footage showed the elderly man being followed by the suspect who was wearing a beanie, and carefully igniting what is presumably a lighter at the victim’s back.
The suspect then fled the scene after attacking the old man.
The emergency medical services and firefighting department were activated to the scene and the elderly victim was then sent to the hospital with first and second-degree burns on his neck and back.
According to the Hawaii News Now, the suspect has since been arrested yesterday, on 13 April; the suspect is a 29-year-old man named Charles Burns (yes, that’s his real name).
Burns is being charged with first-degree arson, as well as the promotion of drugs.
