8 PEOPLE ARRESTED FOR UNLAWFUL ENTRY TO SG AND OVERSTAYING

According to the latest Police media release, 8 Individuals has been arrested following a multi-agency join operations.

The operation was conducts on the 2nd of April 2020. All 8 man are between the age of 22 and 37 years old.

The operation involved Jurong Police Division, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority and the Singapore Customs.

The operation was conducted at the forested areas at the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

During the operation, two men were arrested for entering Singapore unlawfully while the remaining six men were arrested for remaining unlawfully in Singapore for a period exceeding 90 days.

The Police and ICA take a serious view of attempts to overstay, enter or depart Singapore unlawfully. Under the Immigration Act (Chapter 133), the penalties for overstaying or unlawful entry are a jail term of up to six months plus a minimum of three strokes of the cane.

The eight men were handed over to ICA for further investigations.
