An 80-year-old elderly woman was involved in a traffic accident involving a private hire bus along Tiong Bahru Road on 29 August.
She subsequently succumbed to her injuries and died in the hospital, and the bus driver has also been arrested, according to The Straits Times.
The fatal accident took place on 29 August at about 10am, and the elderly woman was crossing the road along Tiong Bahru Road at the time, before being hit by the private bus.
Near Redhill MRT
The accident took place at a bus stop that was located in front of the MRT train tracks and was about 1 stop away from the Redhill MRT Station.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted to the accident and the paramedics performed CPR on the woman lying on the road.
She was then conveyed to Singapore General Hospital unconscious, before passing away at the hospital.
Bus driver arrested
The bus driver, a 49-year-old man, was arrested and is currently under investigation for careless driving causing death.
The bus that he was driving belonged to Sin U Lian, a private transport company.
