81 PEOPLE ARRESTED IN DRUG RAIDS ACROSS S’PORE, DRUGS WORTH $60K SEIZED BY CNB

Singapore’s Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has successfully apprehended 81 suspected drug offenders in a recent island-wide drug operation conducted from June 12 to June 16, 2023.

The operation, spanning various areas including Bukit Batok, Hougang, Tampines, and Yishun, resulted in significant seizures of controlled substances and the disruption of drug trafficking networks.

During the operation, authorities managed to seize approximately 579g of heroin, 100g of ‘Ice’, 75g of cannabis, 52 ‘Ecstasy’ tablets, six Erimin-5 tablets, and 90 Tapentadol tablets. These illicit drugs have an estimated street value of about $60,600.

One notable arrest took place on June 13, 2023, when CNB officers apprehended a 61-year-old Singaporean man for suspected drug trafficking offences in a residential unit located in the vicinity of Tampines Street 43.

Due to the individual’s refusal to comply with lawful orders to open the door, forced entry was necessary. Upon searching the premises, authorities discovered and seized 469g of heroin, 42g of ‘Ice’, 18g of cannabis, drug paraphernalia, and a sum of cash amounting to $4,786.20.

Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested 81 suspected drug offenders in an island-wide drug operation from 12 to 16 June 2023. During the operation, controlled drugs of about 579g of heroin, 100g of ‘Ice’, 75g of cannabis, 52 ‘Ecstasy’ tablets, six Erimin-5 tablets and 90 Tapentadol tablets were seized. 13 June 2023: Singaporean man arrested for suspected drug trafficking offences

  1. In the morning of 13 June, CNB officers arrested a 61-year-old man for suspected drug trafficking offences in a residential unit in the vicinity of Tampines Street 43. Forced entry was effected as the man refused to heed the lawful orders of CNB officers to open the door. About 469g of heroin, 42g of ‘Ice’, 18g of cannabis, cash amounting to $4,786.20 and various drug paraphernalia were seized from within the unit.
  2. Under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, it is an offence for a person, on his or her own behalf, or on behalf of any other person, whether or not that other person is in Singapore, to traffic in a controlled drug, offer to traffic in a controlled drug; or to do or offer to do any act preparatory to or for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug. If a person is found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of pure heroin (diamorphine), he or she may face the mandatory death penalty.
