82 Y.O ELDERLY AMONG 9 ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL GAMBLING

According to a media release, 9 men were arrested at Marsiling area for their suspected involvement in illegal gambling.

On the 19 Sep 2020, the police conducted a raid at a hawker centre located at 20 Marsiling Lane. The 9 men arrested are between 28 to 82 years of age, they are suspected to be involve in illegal horse betting activities.

During the raid, a mobile phone and $2,300 in cash were seized by the police. Investigations are ongoing.

According to the law, anyone convicted of illegal gambling could be jailed for up to 6 months, fine $5,000 or both. Anyone convicted of bookmaking could be jailed up to 5 years, fine up to $200,000 or both.
