A netizen shared how they bought a bowl of fish soup for $9.50 from a stall at the Compass One food court, only to find 4 slices of fish in it.
The incident in question took place on a Thursday (27 July) when the customer decided to treat their father to a bowl of red grouper fish soup.
However, upon reaching home and inspecting the contents of the bowl, they were shocked to find only four small slices of fish swimming in the broth. To add insult to injury, one of the slices had broken into two smaller halves, making the portion size even more unsatisfactory.
Feeling cheated and unsatisfied with the portion size, the customer took to Facebook, sharing their unfortunate experience in a post that quickly garnered attention from fellow netizens.
In their post, the customer referred to the incident as “daylight robbery,” expressing their disappointment at the expensive price they paid for such a meager serving.
The discontent did not end with the insufficient portion size. The customer further expressed their displeasure by claiming that the fish soup from the stall had lost its former delicious taste.
They vowed never to return to the establishment due to the combined factors of the reduced portion and decline in taste, which left them feeling let down and dissatisfied.
As the post gained traction, the management team of the stall in question reached out to the customer directly. In their response, they maintained that the fish soup should have come with five slices of fish, not four.
However, despite the clarification, the customer still felt that the price was too high for the portion they received and remained unhappy with their overall experience.
Here is what the netizen said
石斑王鱼汤King Grouper Fish soup at Kopitiam, Compass One is charging ridiculous prices for their fish soup. I bought their red grouper fish soup for my father who is recuperating from a surgery for $9.50 and paid $0.30 for the takeaway box.
When I opened up the fish soup for my dad at home, there was only a miserable 3.5-4 small slices of fish in the soup! This is daylight robbery! I would never patronise their outlets again.
The standard has dropped since they started opening more and more outlets, and the fish soup is just not what it used to be.
Even the outlet at Changi village is no longer good. But taste aside, charging $9.50 for four small miserable slices of fish at their Compass One outlet really leaves a lot to be desired. The cook is a young man who is rather tan.
