A series of operations were conducted by the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CID), Secret Societies Branch (SSB) and the Police Land Divisions across Singapore between 12 November to 28 November.
9 men aged between 18 to 43-years-old, were arrested for being suspected members of unlawful societies and one of them, a 20-year-old man, was arrested for possession of a weapon in public.
The operations were conducted at nightlife establishments, F&B outlets and shopping malls.
Checks were conducted on about 254 persons, and investigations are currently ongoing against the nine men who were arrested.
Additionally, Taboo Singapore (57 Duxton Road) was ordered to close for 20 days because of Safe Management Measures breaches, following a joint operation with Safe Distancing Enforcement Officers from URA.
17 people were issued a composition fine of between $300 to $1,000 for SMMs breaches.
Potential penalties
Persons found guilty of being a member of an unlawful society face a fine of up to $5,000 and/or a jail term of up to 3 years.
