
October 15, 2021, a 48-year-old Singapore Permanent Resident got himself into trouble and got prosecuted in court under Section 64(b) of the Infectious Diseases Act for making a false representation in his application to opt-out of serving his Stay-Home Notice (SHN) at designated facilities.
48-year-old Lu Li Yin
When Lu arrived in Singapore at Changi Airport, he declared to an ICA officer that his home was suitable for stay home notice as he is staying alone or stays with household members that have the same travel history as him.
He was given stay home notice from 14 July to 28 July 2021. The next day, officers conducted a check at his home and found out that there were 2 other people staying in his home who did not have the same travel history.
Penalties
For making false declarations Lu was charged under the Infectious Diseases (COVID-19 – Stay Orders) Regulations 2020.
He can face up to 6 months jail and/or fine up to SGD$10,000. As Lu is a foreigner he might get his PR revoked as well.
