ELECTRICITY TARIFFS FOR S’PORE HOUSEHOLDS TO INCREASE BY 3.1%

The electricity tariffs for Singapore households will increase by 3.1% for the October to December period.

SP Group previously said on 30 September that the rise was because of the higher cost of fuel to produce electricity by power companies.

Excluding GST, the tariffs will increase to 24.11 cents per kWh, up from 23.38 cents.

The average monthly electric bill for a 3-room flat will increase by $2.06 excluding GST.

Electricity tariffs are set by the Energy Market Authority (EMA) and are reviewed every quarter.

It consists of 4 components:

The energy costs, which is adjusted every quarter to ub rekatuib ti tge cist if fuel and generation of power.

The fuel costs, which is the price of imported natural gas, linked to the prices of oil.

The power generation costs of operating power stations, which includes manpower and maintenance, as well as the capital cost.

And the network costs and market support fees, given to the energy market company and the operators of the power system.
