A netizen shared how he and his brother were cycling on a bridge when another cyclist almost crashed into them.
They then chased after the cyclist and confronted him
Here is the story:
“So this incident happened at a bridge. This curvy bridge near pandan gardens. At AYE expressway there.
As you can see in the picture, there is one lane for walking, one for cyclists going up and another one for cyclists going down.
Me and my brother were cycling downwards (Not at a high speed). We were within the speed limit of 25km/h. We know our speed because we were using bike computer that shows us our current speed.
As we were going down, this man in the pic was going in the wrong lane. We didnt notice until we got quite near. My brother was infront of me and almost hit him.
It would have been a major crash but luckily, since we were kind of experienced roadbike riders, my brother handled the bike well and managed to escape from falling.
Everyone knows that if u go downhill/downslope, your speed will be faster than going up slope.
After escaping this crash, i felt relieved. I was happy that we werent injured or smth. But i wanted to teach this guy in the pic a lesson.
Because he didnt even apologise.
So i quickly u turn and chase him down. He was riding a foldie. He knew he was in the wrong, so he was riding super fast. I still managed to chase him down.
I blocked his path and i confronted him nicely asking him to apologise because he was obv in the wrong.
I didnt shout or create a scene. After this guy apologised, I said to him “Pls dont repeat this again in future bro”.
He replied saying that he was not the only one in the wrong. He said we were speeding.
But we knew we were not speeding and first of all, ITS DOWNSLOPE.
I got frustrated, but i still talked to him in a cool manner. I said, “we are using bike computer so we know our speed, but you came into our lane that’s the main point and that’s the only mistake”.
Guys keep in mind that my intention for chasing him down was not to scold or embarrass him.
It was to warn him not to do it next time in the future. So just wanna ask other people’s opinion on who is right and who is wrong.
Just to spread awareness that there is this type of riders out there so we have to watch out carefully. Ride safe !”
