Singaporean actor Lim Kay Siu, better known as Frankie Foo from the wildly popular TV series Phua Chu Kang, will be starring in the Netflix adaptation of the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender.
He will be portraying Gyatso, the mentor of the main character Aang.
Starring opposite household names
Lim will be starring opposite other actors such as Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and Daniel Dae Kim, with the former playing Iroh, a general of the Fire nation and uncle of Prince Zuko.
Daniel Dae Kim, best known for his work on Kim’s Convenience, will be portraying the role of Fire Lord Ozai.
Actor Ken Leung, who appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will be playing the role of Zhao, an antagonist from the Fire Nation who is a military officer.
Other actors to feature in the TV series include Gordon Cormier, who will be playing the titular character of Aang, Kiawentiio who will be portraying Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko.
The original creators of the animated series announced back in August last year that they are no longer involved in the live-action adaptation.
