FOREIGNERS CAUGHT FOR NOT DECLARING CASH OF MORE THAN $20K AT CHANGI AIRPORT

Two male travelers were caught for failing to declare that they had more than $20,000 in cash with them at Changi Airport.

One of them is a 46-year-old foreigner who was found on 15 December with undeclared Singapore and foreign currencies that amounted to about $31,023.

Another is a 57-year-old foreigner who failed to declare that he had $25,000 of Singapore and foreign currencies with him.

They were among 23 travelers caught for failing to declare cash of more than $20,000, as well as not paying taxes on cigarettes, liquor and other items.

The travelers were fought after a 7-hour operation conducted by the ICA, Singapore Police and Singapore Customs on 17 December at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3.

The other 21 travelers who were caught had failed to declare and pay taxes on cigarettes, tobacco and liquor that were in excess of their duty-free allowance, and souvenirs, food items, gifts and new articles that exceeded their GST relief allowance.
