He is expected to be charged with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of other individuals, according to a police release on 19 December.

The man is a Chinese permanent resident.

He was arrested on 8 June last year following police reports made against him for posting threats inciting violence and insensitive comments against the Muslims.

The 212-year-old is also facing two other charges that are unrelated, with one of them being an offence under the Protection from Harassment Act and another for possession of obscene films.

The police said that they take a serious view of acts that have the potential to damage racial and religious harmony in Singapore and any person who makes remarks or takes actions that cause ill will and hostility between different races or religious will be dealt with firmly.
