The Ministry of Health (MOH) said on 23 December that out of the 65 confirmed imported Omicron variant cases in Singapore, 53 of them arrived through the Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTL).
Of the 53 cases, 41 were detected upon their arrival in Singapore through PCR tests, while the remaining 12 were detected through enhanced testing regimes for VTL travelers.
MOH added that more than 90% of the Omicron cases that arrived through the VTLs were Singaporeans, PRs and Long Term Residents who were returning.
MOH also reported on Monday that 71 confirmed Omicron cases have been detected here, including 6 local infections.
They added that they are conducting active contact tracing to ringfence the cases so as to reduce onward transmissions.
All new ticket sales for VTL flights and buses have also been frozen from Today to 20 January next year as a precautionary measure.
