An SBS Transit bus crashed into a tree on the TPE heading towards SLE on Christmas morning, at the slip road towards KPE (MCE) exit.
A 40-year-old male bus captain and 5 passengers between the ages of 27 and 55 were conveyed to the hospital conscious.
The police said that they were alerted to the accident at about 10.58am and that police investigations are ongoing.
The SCDF said that they were alerted to the incident at about 11am and when they arrived at the scene, they found a person trapped in the bus driver’s seat.
He was extricated and rescued using hydraulic equipment before being sent to Changi General Hospital.
The 5 other passengers were sent to Sengkang General Hospital.
Suspended
The Senior Vice president of SBS Transit’s Corporate Communications, Tammy Tan, said that the bus cap[tain has been suspended from duty while police investigations were underway.
Tay added that their topmost priority is the well-being of the 5 stricken passengers.
