GIRL THREW FOOD AWAY CAUSE HER PARENTS THINKS SHE IS OBESE

I’m 20F. For context, my parents have always made comments about my eating habits ever since I was 13/14, which led me to just even eat more in secret. I’ve always been a bit overweight. Not obese, just a bit overweight. And despite that, in school I was always made fun of being fat.

They’ve made comments about my eating habits all the time, such as “why are you eating so much, you’re already fat, don’t you wanna get thin?” Or “How are you going to be thin if you eat this much?”

Today, I literally had about a bowl of rice, 1 salmon, and an egg. Then my dad came in to the kitchen, whilst I was cooking, saying it’s too much food for 1 person. [I didn’t throw away my food then] Basically it just threw me off, and I just couldn’t even cook the way I wanted to cook my food. It all just tasted like garbage.

I got angry at my dad and told him he literally didn’t need to say that, and then my mum comes in saying I shouldn’t be disrespectful to my dad. So I told both of them to “….” off and threw away my entire plate of food.

I know there’s starving kids and people in the world and I didn’t mean to disrespect food blatantly, but I was so angry that I just did it.

Am I wrong to do so?

Here are what netizens think:

  • In fact I would have made thing worse by throwing the food everywhere and their faces.
  • That was a ridiculous overreaction on your part.
  • You eat what you want to. Salmon, egg and rice doesn’t sound that unhealthy to me.
  • If this has been going on as long as you say I’m surprised you lasted this long without telling them.
