3,496 NEW CASES ON 23 JAN 22, 1,489 DETECTED VIA ART, ONE DEATH

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has reported a total of 3,496 new cases on 23 January 2022 with one fatality.

Case details

Of the 3,496 new cases, 3,057 are local with MOH not reporting the number of cases in the foreign worker dormitories.

The remaining 439 are imported cases.

Of the cases today, 1,489 cases are low risk and detected via ART test while 2007 cases are detected via PCR.

The 1,489 ART positive cases consists of 1,480 local and nine imported cases, while the 2007 PCR positive cases consists of 1,577 local and 430 imported cases.

MOH have stopped reporting separately about Omicron variant cases and have included it inside with the total case count.

This is because the bulk of infections now are all Omicron cases.

The confirmed cases are now a total of cases tested via PCR test and GP-Protocol 2 cases.

GP-Protocol 2 cases refers to individuals who are well but test positive, or have been diagnosed to by a doctor to have mild conditions.

Weekly infection growth rate

The weekly infection growth rate is now at 2.75, 0.11 more than what was reported on Saturday when it was at 2.64.

This rate refers to the ratio of community cases of the past week as compared to the week before.

A rate above 1 indicates that weekly cases are on the rise.

Total toll

One fatality reported today brings the death toll in Singapore at 848 and the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic is now at 313,772.
