BMW BEATS RED LIGHT IN FRONT OF PEDESTRIAN CROSSING THE ROAD

A video emerged online showing a BMW driver beating the red light at a pedestrian crossing.

The incident happened on 5 February at about 11.50pm, somewhere in Yishun, and it was captured on the dashcam of another vehicle.

The traffic light was seen in the video to have been red for quite some time, as the BMW then drove right past the red light, just as a predestrian was crossing the road at the time.

Potential penalties

It is an offence to beat a red light in Singapore.

Drivers found guilty of failing to conform to traffic light signals face a composition fine of $400 for light vehicles and $500 for heavy vehicles.

They also face 12 demerit points and if a driver accumulates 24 or more demerit points within 24 months, their license will be suspended.
