A 9 year old primary 3 school female student in a Jurong area Primary school was poisoned after a male classmate poured dettol into her water bottle, hoping to poison her. The culprit poisoned the victim because he wanted to take revenge for another female friend after she was embroil in an argument with the victim.
Before recess time ended, the boy went back to the classroom and poured a bottle of dettol into the victim’s water bottle. After the girl returned from her PE session, she gulped down water from her laced bottle without realising it was poisoned. After 20 minutes, she started to run a fever and vomitted twice. The school called her father who sent her home to rest.
When the victims’s maid washed her water bottle, she smelt a strong smell of dettol and informed the father. Suspecting his daughter has been poisoned, the father furiously went to the school to confront the teachers. In the end, the boy admitted he had laced the water bottle with dettol.
In hospital, the victim recalled that when she was drinking her water, she noticed the boy laughing to himself and recalled that the boy had threatened her on an earlier occasion that he would poison her to death. The culprit has visited the victim in hospital and offered her apologies.
