A fire broke out at a 12th storey unit at Block 505 Serangoon North Avenue on 30 January.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were alerted to the fire involving a cabinet and a stove at about 4.35pm.
The fire broke out in the flat’s kitchen involving a cabinet and stove, and was put out by the SCDF using a couple of compressed air foam backpacks.
Thick smoke could be seen billowing out of the affected unit, and a firetruck was also seen under the block.
One person suffered smoke inhalation
The SCDF said that one person was assessed by them for smoke inhalation, but he/she refused to be conveyed to the hospital.

As of 7 February, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
