The flight’s captain made the decision to divert the aircraft after the incident was made known to the captain.

Diversion was done to fumigate plane

According to CNA, who spoke to AirAsia to confirm if there was really a snake found in the plane, AirAsia said that the plane was diverted as the company wanted to take precautions by doing fumigation of the plane.

Chief safety officer of AirAsia said that this is an isolated incident which rarely occurs and it can happen to any aircraft at anytime.

He also commended the captain for taking the correct measures and said that the crew and guests wellbeing are always the top priority for AirAsia.
