Singapore Airlines (SIA) have lifted their hiring freeze and are hiring cabin crew again, after a 2-year hiatus.
The airline is restarting their recruitment for cabin crew with online applications now being open, according to CNA.
SIA said on their website: “Online application is now open. Selected applicants will receive a link to complete a video interview online. Candidates who are shortlisted will be invited to attend our final interviews in February and March 2022.”
A spokesperson for SIA spoke to CNA and said that former cabin crews who had left are able to reapply to rejoin them and that they will be shortlisted and selected based on merit and suitability.
SIA said that this move is to meet the manpower requirements of the airline as well as replace the cabin crew who have left over the last 2 years.
They added that their passenger services are adjusted to meet the rising demand for air travel due to the Vaccinated Travel Lane arrangements, with most of their pilots and crew having returned to active duty.
SIA had previously stopped their recruitment back in February 2020 because of the pandemic, and they had to cut costs by offering their cabin crew an early release and/or retirement(s).
About 4,300 positions were quelled across SIA, SilkAir and Scoot back in September 2020.
