ELDERLY MAN ARRESTED FOR SNATCHING GOLD CHAIN AT TOA PAYOH

According to a Police media release, a 62-year-old man was arrested for his allegedĀ involvement in a case of snatch theft

The Police said that the case happened on Saturday (Feb 12) at around 5.50 AM. The police were alerted after a victim’s gold chain was snatched by an elderly man at Toa Payoh Lorong 4. The value of the gold chain is SGD$3,000.

The Police were able to identify the suspect from CCTV and Police Cameras in the vicinity and the man was arrested on the very same day.

The man was charged in court earlier today (Feb 14) with snatch theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code 1871.

The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than one year and not more than seven years, and caning.

However, as the man is above the age of 50, he will most likely receive more jail sentences instead of the rotan.
