SIA FLIGHTS BANNED FROM HONG KONG FOR 2 WEEKS AFTER PAX TESTS POSITIVE

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has been banned for 2 weeks from flying their passengers to Hong Kong following the positive Covid tests of a few passengers.

A spokesperson from SIA said that the directive had come from the regulators of Hong Kong after some of the flight’s passengers who had tested negative for Covid-19 in their pre-departure tests, arrived in Hong Kong and tested positive.

The suspension on SIA flights will primarily affect their two daily passenger services to Hong Kong, namely the SQ882 and SQ894, and it will be lifted on 1 March.

However, the passenger services from Hong Kong to Singapore are not affected, namely SQ 883 and SQ 895.

SIA added that they will contact affected customers to offer assistance and minimize the inconvenience that is caused by the disruption and that they apologize to all those who are affected.

SIA was previously banned from flying passengers to Hong Kong in April 2021, when an SIA transit passenger tested positive on arrival, while three other passengers on that flight were discovered to have breached the entry rules to the country.

Hong Kong have also tightened their border restrictions in recent times to combat the burgeoning wave of infections in the region, such as extending a ban on flights coming in from 8 countries.
