According to a news article reported by Shin Min Daily News, Teachers and Students belonging to Chongfu Primary School situated in Yishun had went into their classrooms in a hurry and also closed all the doors and windows due to Monkey being spotted in the school’s premises.
The monkey was apparently spotted climbing up the school’s building which is four storeys high and went up to the rooftop.
School had earlier warned about monkey sightings
According to the article that was posted by Shin Min Daily News, a parent of one of the students said that the school had earlier warned students about sightings of monkeys in the school on 16 Feb 2022, a few days prior to the incident.
Personnel were also assigned to various locations in the school to keep a lookout for such wildlife entering the school’s premises.
The student also said that the school had advised students into going to those affected areas where sightings have been spotted.
According to Shin Min Daily News, another student had also told a parent that he sighted the whole intrusion by the Monkey.
What the student saw
The student in question had saw the monkey ascending to the school’s roof and also said that one of his friends had screamed upon sighting the monkey.
After the sighting, Chongfu School’s Principal made an announcement on the school’s PA system to instruct all teachers and students to hurry into the classrooms and close all doors and windows.
Students were however still allowed to leave the classrooms to go for their recess breaks.
More previous sightings of Monkeys in the school
According to Shin Min Daily News who interviewed a few people outside the school, a domestic helper to two students in the school had said that she was told by the children that there were three monkeys locked up inside a toilet in the school on one occasion by managed to escape after a toilet’s door was opened by a security guard working for the school.
Parents have also voiced out their concerns about the safety of their children and have also told their children not to go near to the monkeys.
A parent said that she was worried that children who sighted the monkey will trigger them to fight because of their screaming and another expressed concern about the monkeys will attack the children because of food.
Acres advisory
Acres had advised the public to not feed the monkeys and keep a safe distance from them should they sight any and the public are also advised not to scream, stare or show their teeth to these creatures.
