The Russian invasion of Ukraine, which commenced on Thursday, has seen lives being lost from both countries.

The Kremlin in Russia has also said that they are ready to negotiate with Kyiv on a possible “neutral status” for Ukraine.

President Zelenskiy also asked for severe sanctions to be implemented by other European countries in order to stop the conflict.

A video message was uploaded onto Facebook by the Ukrainian president yesterday, where he appealed for negotiation talks with Vladimir Putin.

A spokesperson for Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, has since responded and confirmed that Putin is ready to send a delegation team to Minsk for talks.

According to Wall Street Journal, the delegation team will reportedly consist of officials from the foreign ministry, defence ministry and the president’s office.

Zelenskiy also appealed for the European people to call upon their governments to help Ukraine through the crisis, as he describes it as the “beginning of war in Europe”.

He also appealed to the citizens to urge their government to provide financial and military assistance to Ukraine.

A few hours before his broadcast, President Zelenskiy uploaded a video of himself and some government officials staying behind in the streets of Kyiv with the soldiers and Ukrainian citizens to defend the country.
