A 50-year-old Singaporean man, Fong Soong Hert, who is being accused of the murder of his wife in the UK, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in a Newcastle Crown Court on 18 March.
He pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his 51-year-old wife, Pek Ying Ling, at a Newcastle hotel where they were on vacation.
However, he denied one charge of murdering her.
He is on remand at the moment and attended the hearing via a video conference.
Fong is due to go on trial on 6 June and if convicted of murder, he faces life in prison.
The couple left Singapore to go on a 2.5-month vacation where they visited Abu Dhabi, UAE, Croatia, Scotland and were halfway through their holiday before her death at Newcastle.
