Khairul had pointed a loaded revolver at a full time NSF after the latter didn’t volunteer for a community engagement event.

He had apparently committed the offence as a “joke”, and the NSF didn’t report the incident promptly because he wanted to finish his national service without any trouble.

Khairul resigned from the police on 29 July 2020 and is currently working as a part time delivery person.

The incident happened on 30 March 2020 at about 5pm, Khairul was doing community engagement with two NSFs and a Sergeant Daniel Tan Chee Lun.

They parked their vehicle at Block 683 Hougang Avenue 8, and SGT Tan then alighted from the car and headed to a Giant Supermarket for an engagement visit along with one of three officers.

The two NSFs remained in the car after not volunteering, as Khairul then alighted and leaned in through the passenger door.

He then unbuckled his revolver holster and drew his loaded gun and pointed it at one of the NSFs.

The NSF could see the bullets through the gun’s chamber and was alarmed.

Khairul then holstered his weapon and left the car and went to the supermarket.

The NSFs didn’t report the incident as they wanted to complete their NS without any hiccups and were worried that doing so would result in complications from Khairul.

The incident came to light during a conversation with another regular officer some time in June 2020, and the incident was then escalated and reported to the police.
