Beginning Friday (Apr 1), fully vaccinated tourists from all countries will be allowed to enter without quarantine as South Korea removes COVID-19 restrictions.
International visitors who have been completely vaccinated and recorded their vaccination status can now enter the country without having to wait a seven-day quarantine period. Entry still requires a negative PCR test.
The first step to entering the country is to register with the South Korea Q-Code, which is a website that is previously used to track quarantine status in South Korea.
Let’s hope the Prata don’t flip again
South Korea relaxed quarantine requirements for vaccinated visitors in 2021, but imposed them again in December, citing worries about the extremely infectious omicron.
Incheon International Airport, the major gateway to Seoul and the rest of South Korea, said on Friday that passenger volume will exceed 20,000 for the first time in over two years. The airport, which is one of the busiest in Asia, used to see 200,000 passengers a day on average, but that number has dropped to as low as 3,000 since the pandemic restrictions were introduced.
Got chance no restriction at all
Most social distance rules, with the exception of an indoor mask mandate, might be lifted if the epidemic decreases further and the medical response remains steady over the next two weeks, according to officials.
Kwon Deok-cheol, the country’s Health Minister, warned that the number of cases is projected to rise by 10 to 20% as a result of the present relaxation of rules.
Son Young-rae, another health ministry spokeswoman, suggested that, if the situation continues to improve, all restrictions, with the exception of mask-wearing inside, might be abolished.
