Installing a camera or CCTV in your home is like adding security to your home, but sometimes the person who installs the camera might be doing it for other purposes or up to no good.
On Friday (Apr 1) a 43-year-old man pleaded guilty in court after he installed a spy camera to film his daughter changing clothes.
155 Videos found
The father planted a spy camera in his daughter’s room which looks like a USB charger, but the charger has a pinhole camera on it.
Channel News Asia (CNA) reported that the charger was bought by the father in 2019.
The device is capable of transmitting real-time video feed and storing the videos on the phone.
A total of 155 videos were found on the father’s laptop.
Background and how he got caught
Father started recording their daughter in her bedroom knowing that the camera can see her changing. He even adjusted the camera twice to have a different angle of the room, while doing so the father’s face was recorded on the camera.
CNA reported that the man was finally caught after his wife used his laptop and found the footage of her daughter changing clothes and later reported the incident to the Police.
In total, 155 videos were found which were dated between Jul 2019 and July 202.
He initially denied all allegations stating that the camera was to monitor his daughter and make sure she is studying, but no footage of the daughter studying was found among the video files.
The man will be back in court next week for his sentencing. If he is found guilty of voyeurism he can face up to 2 years in jail/fine or even the rotan.
