The scammers are not just evil criminals but also annoying and disgusting cockroaches that try to disrupt the lives of normal people.
They come in many shapes and sizes, sometimes the scammers say they are Police while other times they are from the bank or telcos.
A netizen received a call from a +62 number which is a number from Indonesia and the female caller claimed that she is from the Singapore High Court and wanted to retrieve personal information from the victim.
Scammers typically used the scare technique by pretending to be someone of authority, victims who are afraid of trouble would often give in and cooperate.
Here is an account of the victim’s encounter:
I received a phone call from +62173076878, stating that the call was made from High Court, and there was a document for me. Then the message requested me to press 2.
After I press 2. it transferred me to a very good speaking English lady like Singaporean or Malaysian Chinese. She requested I provide a reference number. I informed her that I do not have any reference number.
She then requested my IC number to help her check her records. I informed her that I would not release any information even if she was calling from the high court. Then, she stated that my call was transferred to her by an operator.
I told her to get her facts first before speaking with me. She then hung up phone.
