M’SIAN FUGITIVE NICKY LIOW CHARGED, ILLEGAL EARNINGS TOTALLING RM36 MILLION

The 34-year-old is known to flaunt his wealth on the internet with supercars, helicopters and stacks of cash, it is believed that the earnings were made through scams, money laundering and other illegal means.

Denies all charges

Liao surrendered himself after absconding for more than a year, was charged in the Shah Alam Sessions Court this morning with 26 counts of money laundering or the proceeds of illegal activities totalling RM36 million. But he denies all guilt.

If convicted, the accused could be jailed for not more than 15 years and fined five times the amount of the bribe or RM5 million, whichever is higher.

The Shah Alam Sessions Court fixed the case on May 26 (Thursday) and granted the accused RM1 million and two sureties. At the same time, the defendant’s passport is also required to be kept by the court and must be reported to the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Unit every two weeks.
