ONLINE PETITIONS FOR ‘JUSTICE’ OF SAM KE TING REACHES OVER 1.4 MILLION SIGNATURES

Over one million people have signed separate online petitions seeking justice for Sam Ke Ting, the woman convicted to six years in jail in the ‘basikal lajak’ case.

The Johor Bahru High Court charged her with causing death by reckless driving after she crashed into a group of teens riding modified bicycles, killing eight of them, on Jalan Lingkaran Dalam in Johor Bahru at 3.30 a.m. on 18 February 2017.

In addition to the prison term, the High Court barred her from driving for three years, starting after she served her sentence, and sentenced her to serve another six months in prison if she did not pay the RM6,000 fine.

Since the judgement, four online petitions have been established on Change.org, with two of them having received 700,000 signatures as of 8.30 AM. today, 15 April. totally 1.4 million signatures.
