With cars catching fire and burning, drivers ought to wonder the safety of modern cars. When the fire is right next to the HDB blocks residents are worried of their safety.
A car recently burst into flames on Friday (April 15) at a residential carpark at Simei.
A netizen almost parked beside the car
I almost parked next to it! The guys (I think they were friends , one Chinese and one Indian) were occupying 2 lots with all doors open, looked like they were packing something. I noticed the bonnet was also lifted up. Decided to just moved on. Normally I would have tooted lightly to signal I wanna park! Pheww!!! No one was inside the car. No idea how the fire started. But there were indeed at least 3 small “explosions”. Quite scary.
Worried:
Many netizens who saw the photo/video said that they are worried and wondered why a stationary vehicle would suddenly explode.

Here is what the netizens said:
“What makes a stationary vehicle just explode out of nowhere like that? Is it because of the heat or something? Feels like there is quite a number of cases of exploding vehicles this year…”
“i live near there! bunch of explosions and then people started screaming. fire dept came in a few minutes and fire has now been put out”
“a car caught fire in ubi last year inexplicably too, i don’t know how it happens. no one inside thankfully”
“my relatives went down to check but they could not see if anyone was in there. if there was, he/she is probably long gone by now”
