HEALTHCARE WORKER USED NIECE’S TRACETOGETHER, FINED $10K

Priscilla Tan Siew Min, 34-years0old, was fined $10,000 on 25 April for cheating by personation, she had used her 12-year-old niece’s TraceTogether token to gain entry into public faces to purchase food, as well as borrow books from a library.

Two more similar charges were also considered during her sentencing.

Tan, who is a patient service associate at the National Neuroscience Institute at Tan tock Seng Hospital, did not have Covid-19 at the time.

What happened?

On 30 April 2021, Tan was placed on a leave of absence after being identified as a contact of a doctor who tested positive for Covid 19.

The was allowed to leave her home to buy food, but she was worried about getting into trouble for leaving home if she was found to have contracted Covid 19 (her swab result was still pending at the time).

She was also worried if she came into contact with someone else who had the virus, and she then used her niece’s TraceTogether token to go to The Poiz Centre in Upper Serangoon to buy dinner.

On 2 May, she also used her niece’s TraceTogehter token to visit Library@Esplanade to borrow some books, and again at Marina Square to buy dinner.
